This couple married at one of my favorite venues, the Boathouse in Prospect Park. This venue is special to me because when I lived in Brooklyn, I walked by this gorgeous space every day on the way to the off-leash dog area. Some of my fondest memories are in Prospect Park, which is just a magical place.
It helps that Gowanus Hospitality Group and Purslane make such a stellar team that every event there runs so smoothly.
They booked 6 hours of coverage which meant they opted not to have getting ready photos. We started the day with a first look in the park and ventured around to find the best light before getting family and friend photos in front of their venue.
It was a lovely day filled with so much love and light. This couple had to postpone their wedding due to Covid, and then right before their wedding, a giant storm came in, so they couldn’t have an outdoor ceremony because the pond flooded. However, they took everything thrown at them and kept a positive attitude.
I loved telling their story for many reasons, but I’m going to make note of a few of my favorites. First, they play not one but two Beyonce songs for their ceremony, with the added bonus of the Drunk in Love neon sign. Second, their dog Tipsy joined them at the beginning of the day. Third, they hired the brilliant Grace & Grit Flowers. Finally, they ended the night with my favorite dessert, the Van Leeuwen Truck!
Needless to say, they knocked it out of the park. Pun intended. Congratulations you two!
