One of my favorite places for family photography is Prospect Park in Brooklyn. It is my go-to place because it is the biggest public park in the heart of Brooklyn. Prospect Park is over 585 acres of meadows, waterways, and woodlands. Prospect Park is home to Brooklyn’s only lake and last remaining forest and is an important wildlife habitat that supports more than 250 species of birds and fauna. Each Prospect Park family photography session is unique since there are so many location options to choose from.
This beautiful family lives in the same building we did a few blocks from Prospect Park. So it was only fitting to venture to the park to get photos of the three of them. We made sure to get these photos before they moved back to Australia. It was the perfect time of year for family photos, with the air getting cooler and the leaves starting to change color. This fall family session was so sweet, with Mailia in the perfect orange jumper with a black and orange striped shirt underneath, giving a slight nod to Halloween, perfect for the season. Mailia was happy to provide us with all the giggles and smiles we were looking for after we gave her one of her favorite snacks. A happy baby makes for some of the best pictures! We captured her playing in the leaves and exploring with Bronya and Lucas. This family session was bittersweet since they would no longer be in New York, traveling back to Australia soon after. It was a pleasure to capture these family portraits before they left!
What time of year is the best for Prospect Park Family Photos?
Fall is my favorite season and also the best time to get family photos in Prospect Park. The leaves are orange and yellow, and it’s not too hot, so you and your kiddos can run around and enjoy yourselves a bit more.
What Prospect Park location is your favorite for family photos?
Whether you’re having a Prospect Park Boathouse Wedding or doing family portraits, I always recommend starting at The Boathouse for photos. There are so many great spots, and if you walk a little bit past the boathouse, there are stunning open fields with trees and even a waterfall.
