When Tracy and Ambrose asked me to be their wedding photographer I was absolutely giddy. They are such a loving and authentic couple and I knew that their contagious love for each other and their favorite people would be effortless.
I got even more excited when they told me they were getting married at SmogShoppe in Culver City, LA. The venue is absolutely stunning on its own and doesn’t need much sprucing.
Getting Ready at SmogShoppe
Tracy got ready in the upstairs area of Smogshoppe. This venue was a 1980s smog-check center, SmogShoppe is now a 100% solar-powered, 6,500 square foot indoor/outdoor event venue and a haven for desert plants, vertical gardens, and chic vintage furnishings. The combined interior and exterior areas allow for live performances, private events, courtyard weddings, receptions, exhibitions, and productions. The venue’s floor plan can accommodate up to 250-person live events and cocktail parties, 150-person garden performances, and ceremonies, or 150-person formal sit-down dinners. SmogShoppe is conveniently located in the heart of the Culver City art/design district, immediately off the 10 freeway, just minutes to Santa Monica, LAX, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Downtown Los Angeles. I love that it’s energy-efficient and has plants everywhere!
Tracy got her dress from Revolve and paired it with the perfect purple pair of shoes. She had classic florals and a timeless short veil.
The Wedding Ceremony
Tracy and Ambrose decided to do a first look in front of SmogShoppe in front of their succulent wall. The LA light is usually dreamy and this day was no different. The ceremony was in front of another immaculate succulent and plant wall which made Tracy and Ambrose pop against the green contrast. Their vows were so beautiful and I definitely got a little teary-eyed.
The Wedding Reception
My favorite part of their decor was the Harry Potter-themed drinks. The Wolfsbane Cocktail was extra delicious! They really got into the cake cutting which is always a nice treat. And then they ended the night dancing away to their favorite music. Ambrose does music and sound design so choosing the perfect playlist was a high priority on his list.
I loved reliving this day through the photographs.
