It was an honor to capture M and J’s wedding day in the heart of downtown Dallas. They had the perfect venues, with the wedding ceremony at the Dallas Cathedral of Guadalupe and the wedding reception at The Artisan Dallas. This wedding had everything, stunning venues, meaningful traditions, and a couple whose love lit up every room (and rooftop).
Getting Ready and Couples Portraits at Hall Arts Hotel
Our day began at the Hall Arts Hotel, where M and J prepared for their big day in separate suites. M was surrounded by her mom, sisters, and niece—a true family affair, buzzing with excitement and blasting Taylor Swift. I captured the meaningful details she had chosen, including her colorful floral shoes and a dazzling crystal-covered purse, each item telling a bit of her story.
Meanwhile, Jeff had a more solitary start in another room, slipping into an elegant white jacket tuxedo with a black bow tie. Their first look was magical, set against the grand staircase of the hotel’s lobby, the perfect backdrop for this special moment before they said, “I do.”
Before heading to the ceremony, we took advantage of the stunning surroundings of the Dallas Arts District. Despite the heat, we snagged some romantic shots in front of the striking Wyly Theatre. After we cooled off from the heat, we headed to the wedding ceremony location.
Catholic Ceremony at Dallas Cathedral of Guadalupe
The ceremony took place at the majestic Dallas Cathedral of Guadalupe, just around the corner from the hotel. The couple exchanged their vows in a traditional Catholic setting, surrounded by family and friends. Afterwards, they stepped out as newlyweds, the celebration took a fun turn with a second-line band leading the way to The Artisan Rooftop. This New Orleans tradition not only transported everyone to the reception in style but stopped traffic with the streets being shut down. Everyone on the sidewalks witnessing this was so happy to see this unique moment, getting their phones out to capture it.
Second Line Walk to The Artisan Dallas Rooftop
My favorite part was the walk to the rooftop. M and J, under their elegant parasols, led their loved ones through closed streets, dancing to the beats of the band. The energy was so high during the second line that this personal touch was the perfect cherry on top to celebrate M and J’s wedding day.
The wedding reception was held on the rooftop when we arrived at The Artisan. Petaled Design had set up colorful bud vases and colored candle tapers along the tables. This helped to create a fun and romantic setting for the evening. After some tasty appetizers and drinks, everyone gathered for the couple’s first dance, the perfect way to kick off the night’s festivities.
While speeches from their loved ones brought all the smiles, the dinner set the stage for an unforgettable dance party. Despite the day’s heat, the energy never dropped. M even slipped into a shorter dress to dance the night away. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any cooler, they brought out Dairy Queen Blizzards! This was a sweet treat to help guests beat the heat! As the night drew to a close, the dance floor was still full, and the love could be felt. M and J’s grand exit was as stunning as their entrance, a perfect end to a perfect day.
Capturing their wedding was not just about photographing the traditional wedding moments. Being able to witness the blend of traditions, and their love for one another was so special to me. Their day was a reminder of why I love what I do. Here’s to many more years of happiness for this beautiful couple—cheers to love, laughter, and dancing under the stars!
Plan Your Own Wedding at The Artisan Dallas
The Artisan Dallas was the perfect venue for this wedding. The Dallas Cathedral could be seen in the background from the rooftop view. I loved capturing their wedding here!
