Dreaming of a Dallas Arboretum Wedding

Dallas Arboretum Wedding Venue

I’m so excited to share this gorgeous editorial we shot at the Dallas Arboretum! When the opportunity came up to work with Britt Jones Co. on an editorial at one of Dallas’s most stunning venues, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. Britt is an industry leader in designing weddings and luxury brand campaigns worldwide, and her eye for design is impeccable. Plus, getting to showcase what a wedding could look like at Dallas’s top garden wedding venue? That’s a wedding photographer’s dream come true!

Couples Portraits in the Gardens

We kicked off our morning in two of my absolute favorite spots at the Dallas Arboretum, the Women’s Garden and the McCasland Sunken Garden. These areas are my favorite locations for couples portraits during a wedding or for engagement photos; despite being in Texas, these gardens make you feel like you’ve been transported straight to France! The landscaping, the sculptures, and the way the plants are arranged it’s all so European and romantic. For couples who want that destination wedding feel without leaving Dallas, these garden areas are perfect for creating those dreamy couple portraits.

As we moved through these spaces taking photos, I couldn’t help but think about how lucky couples are to have a Dallas Arboretum wedding, as they would have endless opportunities for gorgeous backdrops in their wedding photos. You can go from lush greenery to elegant sculptures to stunning architectural details, all within a few steps. As a wedding photographer, it makes me feel spoiled since not every wedding venue has so many amazing photo locations! Every couple looking for a wedding venue should seriously consider that their venue can make or break their photos. (The Dallas Arboretum would be a venue that really MAKES your photos)

A Wedding Vision Brought to Life

What Britt Jones Co. created for this editorial was stunning! Her design perfectly captured what she described as “quintessentially Dallas” while adding those elevated interior design touches that made everything feel so luxurious. The draping trend for 2025 was incorporated beautifully with that pink blossom pattern, creating this gorgeous cabana-like structure.

Of course, Britt’s attention to detail was incredible, from the blue toile chargers and custom patterns throughout the tablescape to those amazing scalloped accents on the stationery by Sound of Script. Nuage Designs provided the most beautiful linens, while BBJ LaTavola‘s napkins added the perfect finishing touch.

Golden Hour Magic in the Color Garden

After capturing the ceremony setup, we moved to the Margaret Elizabeth Jonsson Color Garden for some golden hour magic. This is one of the newest areas available for weddings at the Arboretum, and I’ll be the first to recommend this area if you’re considering booking your wedding at the Dallas Arboretum! You can truly make this space your own with the ability to add a tent right on the grass. It also makes for the perfect space for portraits, with the plants in the background during golden hour, giving off these amazing California vibes that I wasn’t expecting in the heart of Dallas.

What I loved about this space is how the ceremony and reception areas flow together so naturally. You can walk directly from the ceremony to the reception space, which is very convenient for couples and their guests. Plus, the variety of plants and flowers creates this impressive natural backdrop that changes throughout the year, depending on the season.

The Different Seasons of a Dallas Arboretum Wedding

Speaking of seasons, one thing I love about the Dallas Arboretum is how it transforms throughout the year! My personal favorite is azalea season. As someone who loves color when it comes to weddings, the idea of taking wedding portraits with hundreds of pink azaleas in the background sounds like a dream. But honestly, every season brings something special. Whether you’re planning a spring wedding surrounded by flowers or a fall, if you prefer autumn leaves, the Arboretum is the perfect garden wedding venue in Dallas.

Bridal Looks for The Dallas Arboretum

The fashion for this editorial was perfect for the design. Lovely Bride Dallas provided the most stunning pieces, including a Georgia Young Couture ceremony dress with jacquard fabric and peplum style, plus a chic mini reception dress from Newhite Bridal. Jen Lagers styled Jessie, our bride, with a classic low bun updo and a soft pink lip when it came to bridal portraits. Then, when it was time to switch into the reception dress, Jen was able to do a quick swap for a fun red lip that made for a more playful bridal look. The hair and makeup that Jen created were a perfect example of being mindful of comfort for the bride, with an updo that allowed her to stay cool while still matching the overall vibe of the wedding design.
