Big weddings aren't for everyone and that's ok

You should know that you're not alone, and you do not have to conform to that traditional narrative. Society often portrays the grand white wedding as the ultimate milestone, and there can be considerable pressure from family to host such an event. However, it's important to remember that your wedding day should reflect who you and your partner genuinely are, not what others expect.

Every couple is unique

Your wedding is about celebrating your commitment to each other, and the event's size or scale should reflect your shared values, not society's expectations.

Both you and your partner must visit the City Clerk's Office together to obtain a marriage license. The office is at 141 Worth Street, New York, NY 10013. NYC City Hall offers both civil and non-denominational wedding ceremonies.
You can currently only have 6 people in the room with you, but things change often

You typically need at least one witness to your marriage ceremony in New York. Your photographer can also be your witness. We've loved being the witness for hundreds of weddings.

STEP eight

The Ceremony

Arrive at City Hall with your partner 15 minutes before your scheduled time. The ceremony itself is relatively short and straightforward and lasts no more than two minutes.

STEP nine

Receive & File Your Marriage Certificate

After the ceremony, you'll be presented with your marriage certificate. Pro tip: Bring a folder to keep it from bending. You can also order additional copies of your marriage certificate for legal purposes or name changes.

STEP ten

She asked us beforehand, about our interests and found great spots, that matched our personalities. Also she was very fun to be around and was open for our spontaneous ideas.”

“No standing and posing, just as you are, interacting, enjoying life and one another.”

She has an incredible sense of knowing just the right time to take the picture. We could not have asked for more; she captured some fantastic moments between the two of us, including the undeniable beauty that is New York City!

“My biggest concerns had been getting a great photographer. After all, you only get one chance to get the photos you want."

I could not have been happier with our decision to use Bethany. Bethany was wonderful from the beginning to the end of the process. Not only did she work to make sure everyone was comfortable (and my husband hates getting his picture taken!) but we ended up with some beautiful photos despite the fact that it rained the entire day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you be our witness?

Of course! We are the witnesses at most weddings and will make sure to bring our
photo ID.

Can you photoshop us to look skinnier/have clear skin/etc?

We pose you and your partner in a way that makes you look your best without needing Photoshop. I do remove blemishes and apply skin smoothing when required.

What happens if you can’t make it to our wedding?

It’s never happened, but if there is an emergency, another person from our team will photograph your wedding day.

How secure are my photos?

We back up the photos from your wedding the night of your wedding. We have a rigorous backup system and have them stored in 3 separate places before your photos are delivered, and two backup options after your images are delivered.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

If you need to cancel, we will keep your 50% non-refundable retainer. If you need to reschedule, your retainer will be applied to your new wedding date, and a new contract will be
drafted for any change items. If your original photographer isn’t available, we will find another one.

How does the album design process work?

You will select your favorite images through the Pic-Time platform, and then we will begin the design process. Most clients only have one round of edits, and then their final design is ready for print!
